Sex work story and authenticity consultancy
As a sex worker and former sex workers’ rights advocate, I work with writers, production companies and creative teams seeking nuanced, credible representation of sex work.
My perspective combines lived experience across the sex industry - I’ve worked in strip clubs, brothels, escort agencies, and as a high-end companion - experience in advocacy and mutual aid, and professional training in screenwriting and story development. I am available to contribute as a writers’ room voice, participate in development conversations, and provide detailed feedback on scripts, treatments and manuscripts.
Consultancy can include character and story development, dialogue and terminology, workplace practices, client, manager and peer dynamics, safety, stigma, legal and economic context, historical accuracy, and the political debates surrounding sex work.
I’m particularly interested in helping writers move beyond narratives confined to victimhood, glamour or criminality, creating sex-working characters with agency, interiority, humour and contradiction.
I am not a ‘sex-positive’ writer nor an anti-prostitution campaigner. I am interested in nuance and realism where it counts - all the better to create a captivating story that doesn’t fall into convenient trope usage.
Rather than positioning any single experience as universal, I can help to identify and engage sex workers with directly relevant lived expertise, including through appropriate support and advocacy organisations. Drawing on my own experience working with national and international sex worker organisations, I can facilitate these conversations sensitively, ensuring contributors are approached respectfully, heard on their own terms, and appropriately credited and compensated.
