I grew up in Leeds and left school at 14 with nothing but a million notebooks full of highly unsuitable stories. I didn’t know anyone in the creative industries, and never considered I might become someone making ‘real things’. The isolation of autistic girlhood built a vast inner world and visual language, inspired by the slimy practical effects of Doctor Who, the sacred filth of David Cronenberg, Catherine Breillat, and Andrzej Zulawski, and the camp glory of Ken Russell. My first creative work was my sex work persona - I’ve always lived between classes, nationalities, names, roles. I'm obsessed in all forms with what sex and objects and language reveal about the narratives we want to perpetuate, and always want to find the embarrassing underbelly, the suppressed belch of what we try to swallow.

By chance, I began in poetry, with work published in Hustling Verse (Arsenal Pulp Press, 2019), a landmark anthology of sex worker poetry. In 2022, I was one of nine Scottish writers awarded funding through the Sharp Shorts development scheme, supported by Short Circuit, Screen Scotland and the BFI. Working under the pseudonym Marcelle Nuke, I wrote and directed my debut short, the elevated drama-horror Milkgum (Rockall Films, 2024), which screened internationally and was inspired by my experiences as a sex worker. I also received a BAFTA bursary to study Filmmaking at the National Film and Television School.

In 2024, I was selected from more than 1000 applicants as one of twenty writers on the Channel 4 New Writers Scheme, working with script editors and Channel 4 Drama commissioners. During the programme, I developed Damsels, an original drama pilot and series treatment exploring motherhood and madness through a visceral, surreal lens.

I offer sex-work-focused story and authenticity consultancy for film, television and publishing, drawing on lived experience across the industry, experience in advocacy and public discourse, and professional screenwriting expertise. I am available for writers’ rooms, development conversations, script and manuscript feedback, and consultation on character, dialogue, workplace realities and the cultural politics of sex work.

I also work in prose, publishing essays and short fiction on Substack. Across forms, my work explores class, power, shame and the erotic grotesque, particularly where they intersect with women’s lives and bodies, always with a streak of blackly irreverent humour.

My debut novel, An Inheritance, is complete and currently seeking representation. Set in London from the early 2010s to the late 2020s, it follows a disgraced journalist and a teenage girl entangled in an elite abuse network across more than a decade, tracing the unstable line between victimhood, complicity and cycles of power.
